How to shoot the Moon with a Point and Shoot Camera
May 5th, 2012 // 10:48 pm @ Yorgo Nestoridis
Vouliagmeni Moon Photo with Point and Shoot Camera Believe it or not, it is possible to shoot the Moon with an average point and shoot camera. In fact, for as long as you dispose of a reasonable optical zoom (300–400 mm equivalent) and the possibility to switch to manual settings, you should be able to catch some details of the surface of the moon. Of course there will be a lack of detail and sharpness, but at least you won’t end up with just a white spot on a black background. As today the Moon is at it’s closest to the earth for this year, I did a test run last night and brought back the following shot: Vouliagmeni Moon May 4, 2012 This is about as good as it could get The above was shot with the following F-stop: f/6.3 Exposure time: 1/250 ISO-speed ISO-400 Focal-length: 49 mm 35-mm focal length: 389 Exposure Program: Aperture Priority The idea was to figure out different settings to catch at least some of the texture of the surface of the moon. Vouliagmeni Full-moon May 5, 2012 Tonight I found a nice [...]

Week-end at a Greek Hospital
October 25th, 2011 // 6:30 am @ Yorgo Nestoridis
Original Article at Week-end at a Greek Hospital.

The Children’s Hospital in Athens Living in the greater Athens area bears some refreshing surprises. This past week-end I became acquainted with Greek Hospital Standards as we had to leave YorgoMan (12) at the Athens Children’s Hospital to fix his wrecked up neck. But let’s start from scratch. Vouliagmeni is about 25 kilometers south of Athens, but part of the greater Athens Metropolitan Area. There are plenty of hospitals in our area and communities nearby, but when a child needs hospital treatments, there is only one unique place for the 5 Million people of Athens and beyond: the Children’s Hospital north of the center of Athens. Even if you bring your kid to another institution for emergency treatments, they refuse treatment and you are sent to that one only central hospital which in the best of the cases is 45 minutes away. With normal traffic it takes you an hour and when there is the typical Athens Traffic mess, you better take some snacks along. It must be said: the hospital has a great reputation and top-notch medical staff. In general, it can be said that the staff is not only competent but also devoted to their tasks, however the [...]

Super Yacht Octopus
August 9th, 2011 // 12:48 pm @ Yorgo Nestoridis
Original Article at Super Yacht Octopus.
Paul G.Allen parking his Octopus in Vouliagmeni This morning, Paul G.Allan’s Super Yacht, the Octopus was parked in the nice bay of Vouliagmeni. The Co-Founder of Microsoft obviously knows where the world is best! The 126.18 meter long Yacht looks quite impressive in the bay. Considering that the boat was the largest private Yacht when delivered in 2003 it still looks like the real thing ranking number 12. As you can see, there is only one of the two helicopters on board as I take the picture. The Yacht is equipped with it’s own submarine, a cinema, recording studio and about everything an average dude needs to live quietly and nicely off the hassle of these day’s financial markets. One more.… Related posts:Yacht Aquarius ex My Shanti at Astir Beach Motor Yacht AlumerciA Vouliagmeni Beach Madiblue D burnt in Vouliagmeni Vouliagmeni Kavouri Beach

Visit the original article at http://yorgonestoridis.com/yorgo-nestoridis/publish-google-maps/.Google Maps for your Online Publication The Development In a recent post we have tested the integration of Google Maps on the example of Vouliagmeni, Greece. Geography related content is a good reason to provide Maps. Since Google Maps with Satellite and Hybrid Views are available using the Google Maps API, they can be associated to dynamic posts and static pages with just a few mouse clicks. Some of our projects an developments require Maps, such as the Garden Route Directory or the Cape Sounio Publication on YORGOO Press by Chris Polenas. The advantages of using Google Map features on our sites are enormous as they include the access to the most interesting Google Maps Functions: – Geo Meta Tags – Markers links to posts – Settings for default controls – Custom Markers – Sidebar Widget – GeoRSS points in feeds – Set default map zoom level. – Show post maps on category and archive pages. – Set default width and height for maps – Short code to insert map within your post with a mouse click – Select your preferred map type – Select whether to show your map [...]
